Gestational Surrogacy

Surrogacy is of two types Traditional and Gestational. In Gestational Surrogacy a woman agrees to bear the child of a couple who are unable to start their family or have a genetic child due to medical complications under a legal agreement. In this case the woman carries the child to its term and hands over the child to the biological parents. Such women are known as Gestational carriers or birth mothers. The surrogate woman has no biological connection with the baby.

The Journey:
The road to Surrogacy is not easy and is a complex and lengthy procedure. It sometimes causes anxiety and emotional stress also. Both the couples and the Surrogate is counselled individually by the clinic. The Surrogate undergoes assessment by a clinical Psychologist for potential emotional issue. Once Surrogacy contract gets finalised following all the legalities depending on the law of the land, the treatment starts. The Surrogate is given medications for endometrial preparation which takes about 12 to 15 days. When the endometrial thickness reaches the optimum level, a blood test is performed to check for serum Progesterone. On confirming the count injection Progesterone starts and generally day 5th is considered to be the embryo transfer day. Day 1 is taken as zero.

After 14/15 days of ET, hCG is tested in the blood to confirm pregnancy. The couple is intimated and the Surrogate is monitored 24x7 by medical experts and the team. With confirmation of the heartbeat of the foetus after two weeks, the Surrogate mother is referred to a Gynaecologist for further check up. The surrogate will undergo routine blood tests and scan and all the reports are sent to the couple. The commissioned parents note the developments of the foetus with great curiosity and pleasure. In the run up to delivery if any complication arises like gestational diabetes or any other illness the couple is duly informed. In this period, the Surrogacy clinic emphasises on the food and nutrition of the Surrogate mothers. A team of social workers and coordinators monitor this round the clock and ensures that they get protein rich diet. The part of medication is well taken care of with nurses monitoring all the parameters. We at Matrika Medicare walk an extra mile to provide wholesome food and made provisions of their entertainment. Their family is also helped by us for financial assistance, relocation, admission to school etc. It is our constant endeavour to see that the Surrogate mother complies with the contract. Accepting payments from intending couples for various stages of this journey enable us to take care of the Surrogates’ demand while keeping the intended parents in the loop along the way. We are the only Surrogacyclinic in India, who can boast such a robust infrastructure in this field. In our team, the Gynaecologists prefer normal delivery and a tentative period is notified to the parents so that they can plan. However, to avoid risks and depending upon the condition, sometimes a c section is also performed.

With the D day advancing the intended couples are excited to hold their bundle of joy after a long and stressful struggle for Parenthood and anxious too. Once the delivery is over and the baby is handed over to the family, we at Matrika Medicare ensure that the Surrogate mother is attended fully.
